Father's Day.

Like most folks, I have a lot to thank my father for. But unlike most folks, we are twice migrants. My life as I know it today would be completely different; nothing of what I have today would be here without either of my parents making the decisions that they made. We have been first-hand witnesses to how tough, exhausting and scary it has been, moving to countries where you have no family and next to no contacts and then trying to settle in and lead a normal life.

But my father's perseverance have allowed us to get this far. He has constantly strived for us to have a good life, constantly encouraging us to maximise our potential; to hone our skills and our talents; to give everything a go despite fear of failure. He taught us to swim despite our protests, how to ride a bike, how to clean a car. He taught us to work hard, but mostly to work hard in a career that we love with a passion, all the while reminding us that not everyone truly has such an opportunity in their lives, especially in The Philippines.

His incredible work ethic, his determination and his constant need to plan things ahead are qualities that I'm glad to realise that I possess. It's to these qualities that I can attribute most of my achievements; achievements that I hope are proof enough that yes, we have and will continue to have a great life here. For that I will always be grateful.

Thanks for everything, literally!
