A brief visit to Sydney.

Three weeks ago Martin and I escaped to Sydney for 4 days. I haven't been back since 2010, and have only been a handful of times since I've lived in Australia—Martin has probably only been once, and he was born in this country. We didn't get to spend Christmas together and I wasn't sure when we'd get to go away again, so with my sister having only just moved down it seemed the perfect opportunity to visit.

In the times I've been to Sydney I've never had a proper chance to explore, so we walked from my sister's Waterloo apartment right through to Surry Hills and Darlinghurst and enjoyed the chance to simply wander with no real plan in mind. Also, with Sydney being at least 10ÂșC cooler than Brisbane's steaming high thirties, walking for hours was actually bearable.

We'd also never been to Bondi, arguably Australia's most iconic beach. It's easy to say that something everyone seems to rave about is over-rated, but not going to Bondi whilst in Sydney seemed akin to not seeing the Eiffel Tower if one were in Paris. Besides, I'd seen way too many beautiful photos from my Sydney photographer friends (hi, Jason & Joe) not to pay Bondi a visit, so I booked our airbnb within walking distance to the beach. Even though we didn't get a chance to swim, I completely understand Bondi's appeal: the unique coastline and rocky cliffs on the Bondi to Bronte Walk are perfectly picturesque. I only wish we had a chance to enjoy the area a little longer, but now that my sister lives in Sydney, I'll no doubt be back again very soon.

Oh, and in case you missed it, Jason took some photos of Martin and I around Bondi while we were there.

    1. Aww thanks Rebecca! Yes, I'm a major dog person, you can only imagine my excitement when he came running into the cafe with that ball in his mouth!
